What is CBT?

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) for a variety of common mental health problems.
CBT is a form of psychotherapy which focuses on how you think about yourself, the world and other people, and how your behaviour affects your thoughts and feelings. CBT can help you to change how you think and what you do. These changes can help you to feel better.
CBT is used to address ‘here and now’ difficulties. Whilst it is often useful to discuss the past to understand how events have influenced our lives, CBT looks at ways to improve your psychological wellbeing now and in the future.
